Teacher Info
“MTA offers a variety of workshops, seminars, and professional
development opportunities for teachers with less than five years
of experience on the job. My advice to anyone new to the field of
education is to seize the opportunity to participate in these offerings.
Most of the MTA sponsored programs are offered at low- or no-cost
to teachers, and many provide opportunities to accrue graduate credits,
professional development points, or clock hours to put toward your
mentoring-induction program. Perhaps the most rewarding and beneficial
aspect of getting involved with the MTA as a new teacher is the
amount of networking that takes place with other teachers from across
the Commonwealth.
It’s encouraging and comforting to collaborate with teachers
from other districts, share ideas, and seek counsel about the myriad
rules and responsibilities that fall on the laps of new (and not
so new) teachers.”
